Love

As a day set out for love is here I wondered what better thing to talk and touch on than the ultimate gift that is the definitive thing about life.

I recently took some portraits of my old neighbors, as I wanted to showcase something different with the types of couples we see photographers or ad comapanies commercialize, just to touch on some group I think is forgotten when it comes to artistic portrayal of romance and romantic love. Couples who have grown into old age deservedly, should be the reverential aspiration or the people we go to to understand what a young couple should be. To learn from them and their experiences together and kind of glean some knowledge from their unique blend of life.

As I photographed Gayle and Bryan, I had them interlock their hands down in front of them and I said:

“They say a person’s hands tell a story of their life. I wonder what stories yours would tell.”

And in response that Gayle simply said, without missing a beat; “Security.

I found that absolutely beautiful, it struck me sincere and deep. The life they have then made with each other to is one rooted in security. A home in each other that has a strong foundation. A work of their hands.

A short story about Hawaii was discussed but that is not for your reading pleasure.

I have a picture of Bryan and Gayle up in the “Work” page of the website but follow on instagram (LA Portrait Photographer (@dondogarphotography) • Instagram photos and videos) to see more of the posted pictures of them. And I hope as you celebrate love this valentine, you celebrate everyone that means something to you, you celebrate it through them and your art and you continue to do so everyday of your life.

Happy Valentine’s Day : )
