The World Around Me

Once upon a time I wanted to be an architect. I got into the beauty of structures as a teenage boy, when I started thinking about what it was i serioously wanted to do growing up. I liked drawing buildings but I came to find out years later that I didn’t quite care for the other intricacies, lines weren’t for me. Not that way.

A conducive and immersive environment caters to creativity greatly. My childhood home and hometown was once such place, we woke up excited to be outside the house as kids. To get on our bicycles and be gone with friends to parts known and some unknown, and within the house we spent time in different parts inside and around the compound. Play was important, ti was stimulating, it was grandiose.

I had a brief couple of years of minimalism, where I thought intricate design to be bulky and unecessary, but I am now repented. HA!

There’s something that ignites the spirit in your environment. I am glad to live somewhere beautiful. A large part of it is invigorating and some parts, not so much. I move about some times and most of what I see are 4 edged buildings, dull flat colors, plain windows, little trees, signs upon signs and everything showing just how in a bid for effieciency we have abandoned delight and a unique showcase of heart and art in the things we build and how we craft out environment. Give me texture, give me pattern, forge uniquely. Modern society has created conditions for some of the ways which we have diverted and that has it’s utility, but I hope we don’t move towards an eradication of thoughtful and artful design and crafting intention.

I want to walk around and be captivated. I want to be outside because the world that is in my immediacy gives me life, inspires me, and beautifies my heart. I walk around and always looking to find a way to create around an environment, consciously or subconsciously. The picture attached to this post is one example of life’s natural and decorative beauties, as a result of an inspired environment.

Find yourself in places that inspire your creativity, create an environment around you that stimulates you, in your home and outside of it. Go places.
